Colonel Dr. Julian Ungar-Sargon in Uniform in the Indiana State Guard
Dr. Julian Ungar-Sargon’s military-affiliated service reflects a distinctive integration of clinical expertise, leadership, and civic commitment across both the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Indiana Guard Reserve’s 19th Medical Regiment. (IGR) from 2013 until 2023, earning the Sagamore of Wabash award from Gov Pence and the Dwight D. Dickeron medal for military leadership.
He served as the XO for the US VRC MEDCOM as COL and Command Division Surgeon where he has emphasized medical readiness and civil-military coordination, particularly in contexts requiring ethical deliberation and public health expertise.
On the National Level he was the Chairman of the SGAUS Medical Academy from 2017-202 in the State Guard of the United States , running national Field Casualty Courses at Camp Atterbury as course director for five years.
Since 2023 in the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Dr. Ungar-Sargon has been actively involved in marine safety operations, prevention strategies, and public education, contributing to mission readiness and community resilience.
